Mark & Michelle, October 15, 2016
I woke up on the morning of October 15th to the city of Calgary covered in fog. Every photographer loves an overcast, but when it’s super foggy outside… I can definitely do without! Thankfully on my drive up to Chestermere, the fog parted & I got my beautiful overcast with tiny bits of sun peaking through… swoon! I arrived at Michelle’s sister’s breathtaking home to find all the girls in matching plaid shirts (It was totally unplanned!) & Michelle already in white getting ready! I made myself right at home, enjoying everyones company as they were taking selfies & pouring champagne. As Michelle was getting her makeup done, she called all the girls over & she surprised them with boxes full of goodies & a heartfelt letter, shedding all the tears. The girls all got themselves dressed & gathered around to help Michelle slip into her dress & put her jewellery on… after a crazy man hunt for the earring that was missing! Don’t worry, Nicole ended up finding it in the carpet after she finished packing up & was heading out the door! Haha! Once she was all ready, her bridesmaids surprised Michelle by gifting a photo of them with a border of their lips saying “Kisses for the Mrs” which was so adorable!
We headed to a neat waterfall in Chestermere to capture some bridal portraits before we headed to the ceremony, & the girls brought along shawls to help keep themselves warm which we incorporated throughout the photos. While I was with the girls, my second shooter Kylee was with the guys all morning, creating their portraits on the popular CNR bridge! We met up at the Polish Centre & let me tell you this venue was AMAZING! Michelle’s decor was incredible! Bringing a timeless & romantic feel with twinkling lights & roses… ah it was gorgeous! Wedding Finesse did an outstanding job, as always! With over 240 guests, Michelle’s walk down the aisle to her hubby was a memorable one. Everyone was smiling from ear to ear & she waved to everyone making her way down. The tiny glances back & forth leading up to their sweet smooch left me so in awe of them! Seriously, how cute are they?!
With some convincing, we decided to change our indoor location, into an outdoor one & head outside for family portraits! It was a bit cold, being October 15th, but with this weather at this time of year? I couldn’t pass it up! We headed to my favourite location which was a quick drive from the ceremony, & I couldn’t believe our luck with rarely anybody there! The sun burst through the trees giving me dreamy light & Michelle had to finally stop us or we could have taken photos all afternoon! We headed back to the reception where the Polish Centre was completely transformed! Dinner was served & speeches from their loved ones filled the room with laughter. Mark & Michelle even brought a little humour of their own, dropping a HUGE paper roll down the floor when announcing how many people they’d like thank haha! New sister Brittany even made them a sweet slideshow full of memories for everyone to sit back & enjoy before the dancing began!
Mark & Michelle, you were a dream couple & I so enjoyed working with you! Thank you so much for inviting me to capture the love & joy throughout the day, & for being such wonderful people. When you feel appreciated & loved by everyone, you seriously couldn’t ask for more. Best. Day. Ever <3
