Lyndsey contacted me through a mutual friend of ours, only months before her Wedding! We met up at my go-to spot in Calgary & immediately hit it off like I knew we would. Even Steve tagged along! They told me how non-traditional their day was going to be & how their ceremony was going to be at his grandmothers house…. little did I know how magnificent this house was going to be or what I would be walking into, I was ecstatic to photograph something so intimate & special.
I arrived at Steve’s grandmothers AMAZING house in Southeast Calgary where the ceremony was to be held. I literally stood outside this place she called home for 5 minutes with my mouth wide open. It was unbelievable!! Next door, in their own amazing home… Steve + Lyndsey were getting ready together with their family. I headed up to see them & Lyndsey greeted me at the top of the stairs, happy & excited as can be! The house was full as everyone scrambled to get themselves organized, laughing & having a great time in between the chaos. Steve had arranged for a Limo to take us to a nearby park for some photos & the driver definitely made them feel like celebrities, red carpet & all!
After we finished family & bridal portraits, we headed back to Grandma’s house for the ceremony. We snuck Steve & Lyndsey inside & up the stairs as the living room was packed full of their close friends & family. They gathered in the living room in front of the beautiful piano where a family member gracefully played. The ceremony was heartfelt & sincere, with not a dry eye in the room. They had their children stand beside them through every word & made them a big part of this new chapter. Also, Steve & Lyndsey did something I had yet to see at a Wedding & that was wishing rocks. Each guest wrote a wish for them on a rock & carefully placed it in a special bowl as they walked in. How cool!
Once they shared their first kiss as Husband & Wife, Steve wisked his lady away into the elevator for a brief ride up for some alone time then greeted all their guests a few moments later to get the party started. They said hello to everyone with big hugs & kind words & they all helped themselves to drinks & get this… a poutine! They made short & sweet speeches, thanking everyone who made this day happen & then we all enjoyed some cupcakes from Crave before partying the night away.
Steve + Lyndsey, thank you for contacting me & giving me the chance to document your special day! I loved being a part of this new journey for you & your family & everything was perfect from start to finish. I hope to photograph you again someday! But until then, enjoy married life & each other <3
