I met Robyn & Michelle at our very own Tim Hortons here in Stettler, what seems like forever ago! We hit it off just like I knew we would & we ended up talking all about their August Wedding. I have been anticipating this day & what would unfold all year… & I was also ecstatic to hangout with these two all day! Robyn & Michelle are such a kind & selfless couple, who made me fall in love with photographing weddings all over again.
I arrived at the Cowan farm (after calling sister Crystal for the correct directions… thanks Michelle LOL) to a house in full force! Girls! Hair! Makeup! Babies! Everything! Michelle made her appearance shortly after I had finished up details & she lit up the room entirely! Her charm & excitement was so evident, the room just instantly became a giggle, dance fest!
The Bethesda Lutheran Church, built in 1910, holds a very special meaning to Michelle & her family. Michelle’s parents, along with their parents, all Wed at this same church in New Norway! How cool & special is that? The ceremony was meaningful in more ways than one & the love that radiated in the room was overwhelming. After a sweet chat with their guests & a few family pictures at the church, we headed down to Mirror lake for snacks & more portraits! I took them across the bridge & into the trees when all of a sudden I looked through my lens to find spots of red all over Michelle’s dress! We had been fighting off mosquitoes all afternoon, & Michelle accidentally squished one with her bouquet all over the front of her dress! We all panicked & called for some runners to bring over Michelle’s “emergency kit” containing a Tide pen! Michelle sat there scrubbing while I finished Robyn’s portraits & it just wasn’t coming out. I found some pins in the kit & decided to fold the stain into the creases of the dress to hide it, which worked like a charm! PHEW!
We arrived at the Norseman Inn to guests settling in & awaiting our wonderful couple. We dived right into dinner which was yummy as usual, then Robyn & Michelle surprised guests with an ICE CREAM bar! A couple after my own heart. I filled my bowl up as much as I could & put on a very sickening amount of sprinkles… & my heart was so happy haha! We played some fun games & watched a beautiful heartfelt slide show, which had both families’ in tears. Afterwards we escaped outside for sunset back at Mirror lake, which turned out gorgeous! These two are so in love, I could have photographed them all night long, not to mention I just love their company. Some of the sweetest people I have ever known & you instantly just love being with them. We headed back to the hotel for their first dance, which was even sweeter! Guests soon joined in after & the party was underway! Michelle danced with every single person she could & nobody could keep up with her! So fun!
Thank you both for becoming wonderful friends of mine, & for your generosity. This day was amazing from start to finish & I could see it was everything you had ever wanted. I hope you’re settling into your new home & enjoying every minute of married life!
