Can I just start by saying this day had been a very long time coming. I have been anticipating this day for a good 2 years now & every little detail Jordan had been sending me glimpses of made me so anxious to see this day unfold. Like I mentioned with their engagement session, I know Jordan through my hubby & we’ve become really good friends. Just being in her presence gives you a whole positive outlook & she instantly brings out the best in you. She’s beautiful inside & out & it was truly an honour to capture her marrying the man of her dreams.
I headed out to Coronation in the early hours of May 7th to meet Jordan & all her Bridesmaids at True Roots Salon to start documenting the day. They had their matching Bridesmaids shirts on with coffee’s in hand, beaming with pride to share these moments with Jordan-FINALLY the day was here! They handed her a box with the letters of all her loved ones inside… which was something I had never seen before. She started tearing open each letter, reading them in silence as Aimee did her hair. The one that got to Jordan first was that of her Brother Liam… “Ok, Liam got the first tear guys” Jordan said as she laughed at the little tiny piece of paper he wrote on. After that it was like a domino effect, reading letters from her mother & father & new in-laws, then finally Dylan.
As the morning went on, each bridesmaid received the full treatment sipping their champagne glasses while having flowers put in their hair. Each of us took breaks in between helping care for Jordan’s adorable niece Peyton, rocking her to sleep and feeding her while her Mummy Jade was busy getting pampered. Before we knew it, it was onto the bus & off to Zinger’s Barn for the I do’s!
I arrived at the barn to find the place packed with all of their close friends & family. The ladies ducked into the bathroom to do their final touchups & await the curtains to open as we all eagerly stood by. Jordan’s father beamed as he walked his little girl down the aisle & Jordan’s smile never left the room. Dylan was the perfect gentlemen, shaking hands with his new father-in-law & helping his new bride up to the stage. After the first kiss we gathered everyone outside for a huge group photo at the request of the bride & groom. Challenge accepted as I stood on Raelene’s car & she hurdled the guests like cattle to get this shot Jordan so desperately had planned out. 200+ person group photo’s aren’t always easy, but it turned out great! š
We then drove down to Battle River Lodge to start Bridal portraits & later on the whole family joined us for a quick portrait before we headed to the reception! TheĀ speeches were hilarious & joyful with stories of Dylan & his Brother playing tricks on the MC’s as they grew up. Even an incredibly heartfelt speech by Jordan’s God Mother which almost brought me to tears. We had a neat surprise with a slideshow created by Jordan’s Brother Liam & his girlfriends Brittany… giving us a little glimpse inside their lives before they met each other. We also managed to sneak in a couple portraits from the Wedding day & wowed guests! The dancing followed immediately upon our return from sunset photos & the party was only just getting started. All the kids gathered around Jordan as she taught them all how to do the chicken dance & then the bridal party came to join her, drinks in hand!
This Wedding was filled with laughter, love & most importantly… family. Dylan + Jordan have surrounded themselves with a tribe like no other & they are so blessed to have these amazing people in their lives.
Dylan + Jordan, as if I haven’t thanked you both enough already, I’ll thank you again for choosing me to capture this amazing day for you. I don’t think of you as my clients, but as my friends. I can see us having many dinners/hangouts long after the delivery of your images. You’re both real & in love & your story puts a big smile on my face. Jordan you were a vision on your big day, just as we all knew you would be. & Dylan, you cleaned up quite nicely & did everything your beautiful bride could have dreamed of. You’re both so lucky to have had each other by your side for as long as you have, & now you have each other forever. So excited & happy for you all xx
