I’ve known Matt & Kim now for a couple years, as both our Matt’s work at the Mine together & competed in the Mine Rescue Competition a few years back! As soon as I saw Kim with camera in hand at competition, I knew her & I would be friends! Although we don’t see each other as much as I would like with our hectic schedules, I always enjoy the time I do get to spend with her! One Tuesday afternoon Kim came into Sobeys where I work & said “I have something to tell you!” with a ring blinding me she shared the exciting news that they were engaged & I couldn’t be happier for them!!
They met one weekend When Kim’s sister took her to hangout with her boyfriend. Turns out that said boyfriends cousin’s best friend was Matt, & they completely hit it off with all the things they have in common. A week later they were snowboarding in the mountains on their first date & will be celebrating 4 years together this December!
Matt proposed while they were in Vancouver at a Magic convention. Their last day was spent at the vancouver aquarium & on the way back Kim realized she had left her phone in the cab, completely ruining her day. So that night they decided to get all dressed up & finish off the trip with a fancy dinner. Like the ‘geeks’ that they are, Matt proposed at dinner with the ring inside a pokeball – how can you say no to that?!?!
Matt & Kim plan to marry this spring on the family farm just outside of Halkirk. With no specific theme in mind, Kim is keeping it all about them & things they both like. Lace! Balloons! & Bright yellows & oranges with hints of purple! I can’t wait to not only be there as your friend, but be there as your photographer!
Congratulations guys!
