With my busy Wedding season ending in December, I took a much needed break from picking up my camera over the holidays. I did a very selected few great sessions here and there, and then finally my creative juices were calling out to me. I had done a handful of styled sessions these past 2 years, all of which were your typical CBP signature style: very pretty, very floral and very rustic/vintage. I had an itch to change things up and adventure away from my safety net.
Living in Alberta where the beautiful Rocky Mountains are at our fingertips, it’s a dream come true for any Photographer. I’ve played and hiked in these Mountains for as long as I’ve been shooting… but I’ve always wanted to make my way out there, camera in hand, and do something totally and completely out of my comfort zone. Well, this spontaneous and unplanned shoot was just that, WAY out of my comfort zone! It was nothing I have ever styled before and thats where my excitement took over, letting go of all expectations and forgetting about how cold we were haha!
I wanted to shoot in the winter because the red dress I had in mind would pop amongst the clean white snow. I had my friend Kaylee wear the long red sleeve sheer lace gown that was a fit and flare… with her makeup to be just as dramatic as the gown. Alden with his impeccable taste, wore a suit/sweater combo from his own closet and the florals were a great compliment with the vast beauty that surrounded us. Everything came together great and I’m so happy with the result. Feast your eyes on change. And something that was just fun to do 🙂
