I met Theresa back in November where she walked into Tim Hortons & sat down in pair of pants that the zipper had broken just prior to our meeting hahahah! She’s a gorgeous & hilarious mother of 3 & we literally could have sat & talked for hours! I was SO stoked to get to know her & Miguel… & by following her Wedding Planning via Facebook – I could not wait to see the amazing things she had in store for the big day. This woman has great taste & she planned everything all on her own! Did I mention they were also getting married in beautiful Golden, BC?! This was my first out of province Wedding so not only was I excited to venture off doing something that I love in a whole new place, I got to go on a fun road trip with my photog bestie Raelene while doing it! & To top things off, we got to head down in my brand new car that I had just picked up earlier that day!
We arrived at Hillside Lodge Saturday morning, where everything was to take place. The beauty of having everything in one place… we got to photograph ALL the decor before groom & bridal prep, which is something I absolutely love doing to start off my day. You put a lot into the decor & tiny details, so I like to document & showcase everything you planned & worked on for all those months! & That is best done when the rooms are empty & untouched 🙂 Theresa is a girl after my own heart with floral prints & golden accents! Ahhh! I was in heaven. Her cupcake table had drawers filled with fine china plates for guests to help themselves & her guestbook was complete with a Instax Polaroid camera so guests could include a photo with their well wishes! After Raelene & I were finished swooning & capturing the reception & ceremony spaces, we got started on Miguel & Theresa’s details & the final getting ready shots.
Theresa’s Mum cheered with utter joy as her daughter made her way down the aisle to her soon to be husband, who was getting emotional watching this women who he’s been in love with for 7 years come towards him in a white dress – finally! With their 3 kids standing close by, they exchanged vows & gave each other rings, then Miguel being 6 foot 4, scooped up his 5 foot 2 Bride & gave the most memorable first kiss I’ve ever seen! After the ceremony, we gathered all their family into a gorgeous pathway on the property which was so incredibly beautiful to photograph in. We decided to capture the bridal party portraits there as well before we whisked our couple away! We received a tip from Mark, The Hillside Lodge owner, that there was a really neat spot that takes you right down to the River. We followed his directions (err Raelene told me where to go!) & found this breathtaking location that had a really unique landscape. It’s safe to say we had to drag ourselves back to the lodge, because Raelene & I could have photographed them all night! A couple that literally look like your very own styled session in the mountains who are completely head over heels in love with each other…. my soul was so happy!
We headed back to the barn at Hillside where the Reception was being held & introduced the happy couple to all their loved ones. Speeches commenced & things got emotional as they talked about their families with so much love in the room! The kids couldn’t wait to dive into the cupcakes so the cake was cut & the dances started with a sweet first dance turning into a family affair with everyone coming in to join them! Avalean, Theresa & Miquel’s daughter showed off her smooth & vivacious dance moves, while everyone sang their hearts out into the night! A fire was roasting outside so everyone could step out & still keep warm too!
Thank you guys so much for making me a part of your big day! You both were so adventurous & down for ANYTHING, which is why I am so proud of these photos. I had so much fun & I hope our paths cross again soon!
